BMW-star and former BTCC-champion Colin Turkington is going to drive for Flash Engineering in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship 2011 alongside team mate Jan ”Flash” Nilsson.
”I feel very happy and motivated to race for Flash Engineering in STCC this season,” said Turkington.

Team mate and double STCC-champion Jan ”Flash” Nilsson says that Turkington is going to provide a strong concept for the team in STCC 2011.
”We are very proud to welcome such a fast and successful driver as Colin to Flash Engineering. His experience of BMW combined with our experience of the BMW’s is going to give us a very strong concept for STCC 2011,” said ”Flash”.

The 28-year-old driver from Northern Ireland took part in the FIA World Touring Car Championship last year and raced in the British Touring Car Championship 2009 where he secured the title despite hard resistance from factory efforts of Chevrolet and Vauxhall.
”I have proved that I can win in both BTCC and WTCC. To race for Flash Engineering in STCC gives me new energy and motivates me strongly, especially as Flash Engineering is one of the strongest teams in Europe and STCC has grown to become one of the strongest championships out there,” said Turkington.

Turkington is going to face stiff opposition in STCC 2011 with factory efforts from Chevrolet, Volkswagen and Volvo and experienced drivers such as Rickard Rydell, James Thompson and Jan Magnussen in the championship.
”It is going to be a tough challenge, not only in the form of very good drivers, also that I have to learn all of the tracks from scratch. But I have no doubt in the fact that we are going to have a strong package this year and that we are going to be in the fight for victories and the title,” said Turkington.

The STCC season starts on the 24th of april at Jyllandsringen in Denmark. Flash Engineering is going to complete an intensive test program ahead of the season start.
