”Flash” and Turkington ready for Swedish premiere

The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship runs the first race of the year on Swedish soil this weekend at Knutstorp. Colin Turkington and Jan ”Flash” Nilsson are ready.
”We had a strong start of the season in Denmark and the goal is to continue in the same style this weekend,” said Turkington.

Team mate ”Flash” scored ten points in the first race weekend and is aiming to continue to challenge the top drivers this weekend.
”I am not going to Knutstorp to give the other drivers an easy time. I had the speed to challenge Rydell and Thompson at Jyllandsringen, this weekend I am going to leave them behind me,” said ”Flash”.

Turkington is fourth in the championship after a strong first weekend at Jyllandsringen in Denmark with a second place in his second ever STCC race.
”At this point of the season it is very important to keep racking up the points. Things are working really well in the team and the conditions are there for us to stay in the top of the field,” said Turkington.

Both Flash Engineering drivers are on maximum penalty weight ahead of the race weekend at Knutstorp. The difference compared to some of the cars in the field is nearly 100 kilos, a difference that theoretically corresponds to almost a second per lap.
”The weight system currently puts us in a difficult spot to beat cars like the Volkswagens for example. But theory and practice are two different things. We are going to fight for every inch on the track,” said ”Flash”.

Knutstorp is a track that Flash Engineering and BMW have performed well on in the past. Last year Flash Engineering scored one pole position and one victory. Turkington underlined the strong performance during the pre-season test at Knutstorp earlier this year with being second fastest.
”Knutstorp is the track that I know best of the Scandinavian tracks and the car worked really well during the test here earlier this spring. I am looking forward to the race weekend and I am hoping for strong results both for me and Jan,” said Turkington.
