Lindland sixth in a chaotic Carrera World Cup
Roar Lindland finished sixth among the Scandinavian drivers in the Porsche Carrera World Cup race at Nürburgring Nordschleife.
”It feels alright, I am pleased and the race was just so challenging that I imagined. Sixth is good keeping the conditions in mind,” said Lindland.
A pouring race a few hours before the start meant that the Flash Engineering trio had to hit the track for the first time ever on wet conditions for the race.
”It was challenging, to put it mildly, to drive at Nürburgring with rain for the first time in the race. I was not even able to see the rear lights of the car ahead of me, despite him being just a meter ahead, due to the spray. This race is like nothing else I have ever done before in my life, a memory for lite for sure,” said Lindland.
Prince Carl Philip was unfortunately forced to retire on the first lap after missing a braking point in Aremberg and hitting the barriers.
”It was of course a sad end to the race. But that is racing for you sometimes when you are right on the edge, especially here at Nürburgring where there is no room for mistakes,” said Prince Carl Philip.
Matte Karlsson made one of his best results ever and finished tenth among the Scandinavian category one drivers and 65th overall.
”The conditions had changed completely for the race and there were loads of new things to learn with lines and even the fact that the spectators have painted the track with a lot of paint. The start was the most brutal thing I have ever done. I am pleased overall, I finished the race with the car in one piece and I scored points,” said Karlsson.
Lindland remains in fifth position in the championship, 23 points behind fourth placed Linus Ohlsson, ahead of the continuation of the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia at Karlskoga on the 13th of August.
”It looks good for the rest of the season. We have got a well-needed break and I am going to go for podium places when we return,” said Lindland.
