Final half of STCC starts at Flash Engineering’s home track

He started STCC, he has turned 50, he runs one of the most successful racing teams in Scandinavia, he runs Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia, he is part owner of the breakaway organisation TTA, he is used to be in the spotlights and last but not least, he is the most victorious driver in STCC this season. His name is Jan ”Flash” Nilsson and he races at Karlskoga, the home track of Flash Engineering, this weekend.

”All this motivates me. I have had it like this since I decided to stop racing and sold the Volvo team when I turned 45. You could say that it is one of my biggest failures when I stopped, everything became twice the size after that,” said ”Flash”.

This weekend marks the start of the end of STCC 2011. Just four races remain of this season and ”Flash” is fifth in the championship.
”In the last six race weekends at Karlskoga, I have been on the podium in more than half of them with two victories. You can say that Karlskoga is one of my favorite tracks. As for my postion in the championship, I am not looking at the points, it is all about keeping the momentum that we have build up and keep scoring as much points as possible. A victory is within reach,” said ”Flash”.

Karlskoga is yet another new track for team mate Colin Turkington. As extra help ahead of the weekend, all STCC teams takes part in a test day on thursday.
”It is going to be a good possibility for me to learn everything about the track. I am looking forward to the weekend, especially as the track suits the BMW and that the team historically always has been in the top here,” said Turkington.

Turkington scored most points of all STCC drivers during the past race weekend in Falkenberg.
”Things worked really well in Falkenberg and the ambition for this weekend is to continue in the same style. As Jan says, focus is at each event, there is so much that can happen during a race weekend and we have got good speed in the car. With a couple of strong weekends, things could look really good,” said Turkington.
