Colin Turkington claimed a superior double victory in the privateers championship as the WTCC raced in China.
”It was pleasing to finish off the season with a strong result,” said Turkington.

Turkington was just 0.157 seconds from pole position in the race and started third overall behind Chevrolet works drivers Alain Menu and Rob Huff.
”We were competitive straight away on the friday test and we just fine tuned the car during the weekend,” said Turkington.

The Tianma circuit outside Shanghai, China, is just 3.3 kilometer and Turkington says he had a great advantage from his experience of Swedish circuits.
”The circuit was very much like a Swedish track in the characteristics, quite narrow and not too many straights. So I felt comfortable straight away,” said Turkington.

Turkington secured second overall in the first race after a race-long fight with Menu for the lead.
”I really enjoyed the races, but it is quite a difficult position to be in, racing with guys involved in the championship fight. Overall though, I am pleased with the 2011 season with a good season in the STCC and a couple of strong WTCC races,” said Turkington.

Turkington made a total of three race weekends in the WTCC 2011 for BMW team Wiechers Sport.
